The Toyota RAV4 Mud and Sand Roads helps you have total control on slippery roads. It makes changes to the engine and brakes and how power is sent to the wheels. Those changes help you drive in tough conditions.  

By enabling Mud and Sand mode, both the pre-collision system and vehicle stability control will be disabled. While in this mode, your fuel efficiency will decrease compared to Normal mode.  

How to Use It  

It’s not difficult to find the Mud and Sand mode in your RAV4. It depends on which system your RAV4 has: the dial system or the button system. Let’s explore both.  

Turning it on  

If your Toyota RAV4 Mud and Sand mode has a button, just push the button, and if your RAV4 mode has a dial system, just turn the dial left. Check out the image below.  

Turning Off  

It’s different from other modes when it comes to turning off; you just need to select the other mode instead of turning off.  

The same goes for the dial system: turn right to other modes instead of turning off.  

Note: Sand and Mud mode will not turn off; it will change to other modes.

• You should use the sand and mud mode on muddy and slippery roads.  
• Active in this mode when there is no traction on the surface.  
• This mode only works when your speed is 25 mph.  
• Your fuel economy will decrease while in this mode.  

Note: While in this mode, you may notice some other changes as well, like a steering wheel and vehicle vibrations, along with engine compartment noise.
